"Human nature is very much the same all over the world." - Mark Twain. Our blog tells the hilarious story of four American girls - Dana, Zoe, Miranda, and Rachel - traveling in Europe.
Its hard to believe that it has been 4 months since that first day that we all arrived at Heathrow. It sure has been a ride! The sun finally came out for our last day and we were able to enjoy a final walk around Piccadilly Circus, Knightsbridge, and South Ken and afternoon tea at Harrod’s. For our final night out we ended it right back where we started. We saw a UK artist that we discovered perform live at a classic pub, went to the bar that we found our first night out together, walked through Trafalgar Square and Piccadilly Circus, and ended the night staying up until 3AM chatting and eating our favorite London treats. A perfect end to an incredible semester in London together, one that we will never forget!! Thanks for following us! xx Zoe, Dana, Miranda, and Rachel
We’ll Miss You, London!
HAPPY 21ST BIRTHDAY RACHEL!!!! WE LOVE YOU SO MUCH!!
For our last week, we made sure to hit all the spots in London that we hadn’t done yet. One of these sights that we were all most excited to see was the Harry Potter Studio Tour at Warner Brothers Leavsdon studios! We are a mix of devoted Harry Potter fanatics and movie buffs, so this was definitely a must see. All the behind the scenes looks into the movies were amazing, including intricate props and decorations as well as cool, unknown information about the movies. We walked through the Great Hall, tasted Butterbeer, and even walked down Diagon Alley! If only we could really go to school at Hogwarts….
Our Day at Hogwarts
Pictures from Bath, Stonehenge, and Windsor Castle!
We’re back from our final trip together and had the most amazing time. We flew to Munich bright and early Friday morning and spent the day at a great Jewish museum, drinking traditional beer at a 412 year old beer hall, and finished the night at a Chabad Seder. The seder was possibly our favorite part of Munich — we celebrated our Passover traditions in a completely unfamiliar place, and it was such an interesting mix of cultures together - the seder was given in German, Hebrew, and English (just for us!). We met an Israeli soldier who was working in Munich, an American girl studying abroad, and an old Jewish grandma who, to our surprise, ”sped up the process” of the five hour seder and started eating even before we did! The next day Miranda, Dana, and Andrea woke up and travelled to Neushwanstein Castle - literally a castle on a cloud! The views were amazing and we really felt like we were in a Disney fairy tale. Meanwhile, Zoe and Rachel went to the Dachau Concentration Camp Memorial. Of course this was not as glamourous as the castle, but learning about the Holocaust in Germany was an unparalleled experience. Saturday we reunited and travelled to yet another new country - Austria! We met up with other friends and had a blast on the Sound of Music Tour! We sang along to the soundtrack the entire time and saw the amazing movie sights and quaint city - all in the snow. Zoe, Rachel, and Dana hiked to the old fortress when the day finally brightened up and witnessed some fantastic panoramic views of the city and the gorgeous alps. By Saturday night we were all pooped and fell asleep before 9 PM! On our final day we went to the BMW Museum and the Munich Olympics sights before we headed back to London! This was definitely our most cultural trip and a great way to end out euro adventures! Now on to our final two weeks on Londontown…
The Hills Are Alive…With The Innocents Abroad
We were all excited to go to Barcelona to escape the rainy, gray skies of London, and it definitely did not disappoint! Saturday morning we woke up bright and early to take Dana’s favorite bus tour around the city. We spent hours hiking through Park Guell, where Miranda showed off her Soulcycle legs. Later that afternoon, we basked in the sun, visited Gaudi’s masterpieces, and ate tons of raw fish. Rachel and Zoe embraced the European culture with a leisurely topless stroll on the beach. We had an amazing first night dinner at the trendy CDLC (Carpe Diem), which offers both dinner and massages- definitely a unique experience! We ended the night at Chupito’s shot bar that houses over 200 extreme shot choices. Some of our favorites were the Boy Scout (where we literally took shots off a flaming bar), Osama Bin Ladin, Pulp Fiction, and Harry Potter. Sunday we walked down Passeig de Gracia and Las Ramblas, and saw even more amazing sights. Of course, we ended up back at the beach, drinking more sangria and working on our tans. We were so sad to leave the warmth of Spain, and had an amazing time all together!
